Where to Start:

As a parent, you must prepare for your child’s IEP meeting. First, you should request your child’s school records, evaluations, progress reports, and proposed goals and objectives. This request should be made well before the meeting to allow sufficient time to get the documents together and reviewed properly. It is recommended that you request these documents 3-5 days in advance of the IEP meeting. Next, you should consult with community experts in order to get a second opinion on the results of the evaluations and any of the proposed goals and objectives. Third, you should organize all these documents in a pocket folder or binder for quick access during the meeting.

The experienced education law attorneys at Maya Murphy, P.C. can assist in navigating the IEP process and provide representation at meetings and other proceedings.
