Prior Written Notice

Prior written notice requires that a school district must notify parents of any changes that are being made to their child’s individualized education plan (IEP), and explain their decision to make such changes. In Connecticut, prior written notice must be made to parents when an IEP change is proposed or refused by the school district. While prior written notice used to be included as a section within the IEP, back in 2022 Connecticut separated it and established prior written notice as a stand-alone document.
