Special Education Re-Evaluations

Each student identified as special education eligible must be re-evaluated at least once every three years, but not more than once per year (unless the student’s parents and the school district agree that more frequent re-evaluations are needed). If you feel your child’s educational needs have changed, you should request a re-evaluation so that your child’s IEP can be modified accordingly.

As your special education student approaches the end of his or her FAPE (graduation from high school or age 21), PPT meetings will increasingly address your child’s transition to post-secondary life. Children change as they grow (as do their educational needs), and modifications to individualized education programs must inevitably follow. Our attorneys are available to help your family effectively address your child’s developing needs on an ongoing basis.
