The Connecticut State Advisory Council for Special Education: Annual Report 2023

The annual report issued by The Connecticut State Advisory Council for Special Education aims to address the areas of education law that contribute to disparities in special education, as well as issue recommendations for creating meaningful change and supporting the needs of special education students. The report stresses the importance of giving students a voice and incorporating their unique experiences and perspectives into the decisions and discussions related to the educational process. Other topics that are discussed in the report that the council deems critical include recruiting special education staff, Least Restrictive Environment, Restraint and Seclusion, and the well-being of special education students and staff. The purpose of the annual report is to acknowledge areas of improvement that need to be made in special education, and put forth recommendations for creating a better educational environment for the following school year.
