Special Education Legal Consultations

A legal consultation is a meeting between a prospective client(s) and attorney where the client(s) explain the facts of their case, and the parties determine whether they would like to initiate an attorney-client relationship and work together on the case moving forward. It is important for both parties that the client(s) comes to the meeting as prepared as possible, and the following are tips to ensure that you can make the most of your consultation:

  • Read special education legal blogs on the law firm’s website and do some basic research to familiarize yourself with the topics/terminology related to special education
  • Bring any and all documents that are relevant the case and the child’s education
  • Write down any questions that you want to ask the attorney or important information you want to bring up so you do not forget
  • Be prepared to take notes
