Background & Experience

Mr. Westcott graduated from the University of Connecticut School of Law in 1996, where he was a member of the International Law Journal and placed first in his class in the Alva P. Loiselle Appellate Advocacy Competition. Since entering private practice in 1996, Attorney Westcott has built a distinguished career representing clients in trial and appellate courts throughout Connecticut.

His practice is defined by precision in argument, deep procedural knowledge, and a record of results in both trial and appellate courts. He has won acquittals in criminal cases of media interest and successfully overturned wrongful convictions on appeal, securing new trials for clients whose constitutional rights were violated. Attorney Westcott has briefed and argued more than 70 cases before the Connecticut Supreme and Appellate Courts and has represented the Connecticut Criminal Defense Lawyers Association (CCDLA) as Amicus Curiae in matters of public interest. He has been admitted as an expert witness in appellate practice in Connecticut legal proceedings and has represented defendants in the largest federal internet case in the District of Connecticut.
