Title IX Modifications

All elementary and secondary schools, school districts, colleges, and universities that receive federal funds are required to take note of significant updates to Title IX regulations. Recently revised by the U.S. Department of Education, these regulations govern how educational institutions handle complaints related to sex discrimination and sexual harassment. The new rules will take effect on August 1, 2024.

Under the current regulations, a detailed grievance procedure is outlined for addressing complaints of sexual harassment. The updated regulations expand the scope of behaviors that trigger this procedure, modify the complaint-handling process, and explicitly address protections for individuals based on sexual orientation, gender identity, pregnancy, and related issues.

Given the extensive nature of these new regulations, educational institutions must prepare for implementation in a short timeframe, barring any legal delays. We are actively developing policies, template documents, and training materials tailored for our educational clients to ensure readiness by August 1st.
