Courtroom

When a child is accused of committing a crime, their academic career and future can be negatively impacted. As a parent, it is important to have a basic understanding of the youth justice system in Connecticut in the event that your child is involved in a crime. If your child is involved in a juvenile delinquency case in Connecticut, contact one of our attorneys at (203) 221-3100.

Juvenile Delinquency Hearings

In cases involving juvenile delinquency, hearings are typically held in the juvenile court assigned to the town where the child lives rather than where the crime was committed. For children being held in detention in a town that is not assigned to Hartford or Bridgeport juvenile courts, they may have their first hearing in whatever town they are being held in. If the child is not released, they will likely be brought to regular court on their next court date.
